Frequently asked questions
- Q1: Why do females have to do more?
- A1: Female's biological age is normally, at least, 12 months in advance of Males during early adolescence.
- Q2: Why is a large proportion of training to be done at early mornings? I am a 12 year old male & I could still do 14 hours by doing all evening sessions & 2 morning sessions, but the above criteria means that I have to do at least 3, possibly 4 mornings.
- A2: Time off in the evening will provide you with much needed rest, recovery & socialising time. These 'free' evenings can also be used to catch up on homework or coursework for older swimmers.
- Morning sessions are vital in preparing you to swim fast morning heats & also for preparing you for the long-term high performance programme you are now in.
- If a swimmer builds the 'morning' habit young, it will stay with them for life.
- If a swimmer stays in bed, rather than training, they will not be catching up on homework! The most common excuse for missing training.
