Swim Camp 2008
will be held in Lignano, Italy. We
intend to travel during a window of late Thursday evening 23rd October to
Saturday October 25th returning either Thursday 30th October or at the very
latest early Friday October 31st. This obviously means that swimmers would
have to have Friday 24th October off school.
Although the venue
is an indoor pool it does meet all criteria used for previous camps except
for this.
At present we are
unable to confirm the actual dates as all flights to either
Venice
or Trieste by
the low cost carriers have not been released as yet.
The cost of the
Swim Camp will be £660. We expect this to be the final cost but due to the
current climate with fuel prices any additional costs would be passed onto
the swimmers. Of course, if the cost of the flights are less than the
advised budget by the agent this would also be represented in the final
balance.
We require a
deposit of £360 along with the attached booking form to enable the purchase
of flight tickets and reservation of places at the centre in Lignano.
The balance of
£300 is to be paid either in full by July 1st 2008 or by 5 instalments of
£60 by attached Standing Order on March / April / May / June / July 1st
2008.
We do still have a
number of cheques on hold from the original Cyprus deposit, can these members
please confirm they do still wish to attend this camp.

Lignano is an excellent place to hold a swimming training camp.
The City of Lignano was chosen to
host the 2005 European Youth Olympics and houses a brand-new 10
lane 50m indoor pool. .Lignano
Sabbiadoro is an internationally renowned tourist resort which
is very popular with young people. The area offers a variety of
entertainment along with many tourist attractions.

Teams will stay at the purpose built Ge Tur village,
which is ideally suited for visiting sports
teams. Surrounded by a pine forest, the village offers
many sporting facilities including swimming pools,
football pitches and volleyball courts.
Teams will train in the indoor
50m competition pool which was used during the 2005
European Youth Olympics. There is also access to a
fitness suite on site as well as a number of all weather
pitches and a large sandy beach for land training. The
beach can obviously be used for relaxing too. There
are a number of outdoor pools situated within the
village that are used for recreational swimming. The
training pool is within walking distance of
all accommodation.

Teams will have a choice of single, twin
and triple rooms located within the village. All accommodation
is based on a full board basis so you don't have to worry about
meals.
here is also a choice of either eating in one of the large
dining halls on site or alternatively choosing table service
within your apartment block (for an extra charge). All rooms
have modern furnishings and private bathrooms.

Northern Italy is
easily accessible from most UK airports using a number of
no-frills, scheduled and chartered airlines. Sports Abroad will
arrange all of your training and accommodation requirements
along with your airport transfers to Lignano and any optional
excursions.
