Following the success of the 2011 Swim Clinic series, Derventio eXcel are pleased to announce the scheduling of two swim clinics running during the spring of the 2012 season.
These will take place at Alfreton Leisure Centre
Saturday 31st March at 1.45pm – Improving Starts and Finishes
Saturday 19th May at 1.45pm – Improving Turns and Takeovers
Designed for swimmers of a County level and above, the clinics will offer a workshop based around the topic of the day, incorporating the latest Sports Science advances as used by the Derventio coaching staff and a land-training session with an emphasis on improving strength, power and agility. The pool sessions during this season of camps will be predominantly skill based and should be a positive experience for the swimmers. There will be an emphasis on technique and they will also include racing strategies.
The clinics will be run by Andi Manley, Derventio eXcel Head Coach and member of the GB coaching staff for the European Short Course Championships 2011, along with his coaching staff at Derventio. They will be joined by at least one of the DX swimmers who will share their advice and experiences of what it takes to train and compete at a National/International level.
Camps are open to swimmers from any ASA affiliated club aged 9 to 18.

Land Training 3.00pm – 4.00pm – Developing strength, power and agility
Pool 4.00pm – 6.00pm Technical and skill development of starts and finishes followed by debrief and departure
Saturday 19th May – Improving Turns and Takeovers
Registration 1.45pm
Workshop 2.00pm – 3.00pm – Improving turns and takeovers
Land Training 3.00pm – 4.00pm – Developing strength, power and agility
Pool 4.00pm – 6.00pm Technical and skill development of turns and takeovers followed by debrief and departure
The cost of each clinic is £40. However, if you book for two clinics you only pay £70. Parents and Coaches are welcome to attend to observe at no extra cost.
