Head Coach
Andi Manley

 Kim Hill

Andi Manley joined Derventio eXcel in the spring of 2009 as its second Head Coach in succession to Mark Rose.

Andi has been and remains a competitive swimmer himself, still having success and recording PBs in 2008 in Masters swimming. This includes two Masters World Records in the 50m and 100m Freestyle (22.68 and 49.97 secs). He swam at Loughborough University for seven years and was Mens Captain for two years. During this time he trained and competed with over 20 British Team swimmers and achieved many personal successes. These included National titles and medals in relay teams and a highest individual finish of fourth at the National Short Course Championships on three occasions as well as many appearances in other National finals and semi-finals.

After leaving school in Wiltshire, Andi spent seven years studying at Loughborough. Having graduated in PE and Sports Science with Geography in 1998, he went on to do a Masters degree in Sports and Leisure Management which he completed in 2002.

Whilst at Loughborough he began taking his coaching qualifications; ASA Teacher (2000), ASA Club Coach (2001), ASA Coach (2002). He put these skills to use as Assistant Coach to the Loughborough University High Performance Squads and covered for Squad Coaches whilst they were on international duty.

In November 2002 Andi took up the post of Chief Coach of Swindon Dolphin ASC. In the six years he spent in Wiltshire he transformed the club from a locally-focused competitive club to a team that competes successfully through all levels of British Swimming, placing swimmers on various representative teams and squads at County, Regional, National and international level.

In 2003 Andi added to his responsibilities by taking on the role of Wiltshire County Team Coach. In 2007 Wiltshire were promoted to Division One.

The following year Andi was awarded the British Swimming Coaches & Teachers Association South West Regional Grass Roots Coach of the Year award. Under Andi's guidance, Swindon Dolphin have been transformed from a club with one National qualifier seven years ago to one producing 12-15 National qualifiers in each of the last three years. The club finished third in the 2006 Speedo League Western Final, narrowly missing out on an appearance in the National final. Andi has also coached Chris Jones to 2007 British Championship and ASA National Championship golds and to a Scottish record and selection to the Scottish National Team in the 50m breaststroke.

Success at club level has led to invitations to undertake several representative coaching roles. In 2004 Andi was selected as a Coach for a British Swimming Middle Distance Training Camp in Barcelona. He has also been selected as Head Coach for a South West Regional Camp for Youth swimmers and for various Wiltshire ASA events.
