Swim Camp 08 - Italy

The Swim Camp 2008 will be held in Lignano, Italy. We intend to travel during a window of late Thursday evening 23rd October to Saturday October 25th returning either Thursday 30th October or at the very latest early Friday October 31st. This obviously means that swimmers would have to have Friday 24th October off school. Although the venue is an indoor pool it does meet all criteria used for previous camps except for this.
The Pre Camp Meeting for Lignano will take place at the Out of Town Inn on Butterley Hill in Ripley on Tuesday October 14th 2008. Post Code for Sat Nav DE5 3LT. Start time will be 7pm prompt, so please aim to be early as there is a lot to get through.
Swimmers will find out at this meeting who their Team Manager will be, and they will then be the swimmers point of contact for any queries leading up to departure. Remember you do not find out the rooming list until you are on the coach from Venice to the Complex.
Will swimmers / parents please ensure that all EHIC Cards are brought along on the night and given to the respective Team Managers. Any documents outstanding please bring along.
Travel Dates for Lignano are:
Group 1 - Bus will depart Moorways at approx 01:00 (am) Friday October 24 flying from Leeds at 06:00 returning to Leeds at 12:00 noon Thursday October 30
Group 2 - Assemble around 10:30 (am) at East Midlands for flight at 13:00 on Friday October 24 returning to EMA Thursday 30 October at 18:00.

Ge Tur Village, Lignano
Located close to Venice and Trieste, Lignano is an excellent place to hold a swimming training camp. The City of Lignano was chosen to host the 2005 European Youth Olympics and houses a brand-new 10 lane 50m indoor pool. .Lignano Sabbiadoro is an internationally renowned tourist resort which is very popular with young people. The area offers a variety of entertainment along with many tourist attractions.
Teams will stay at the purpose built Ge Tur village, which is ideally suited for visiting sports teams. Surrounded by a pine forest, the village offers many sporting facilities including swimming pools, football pitches and volleyball courts. Teams will train in the indoor 50m competition pool which was used during the 2005 European Youth Olympics. There is also access to a fitness suite on site as well as a number of all weather pitches and a large sandy beach for land training. The beach can obviously be used for relaxing too. There are a number of outdoor pools situated within the village that are used for recreational swimming. The training pool is within walking distance of all accommodation.
Teams will have a choice of single, twin and triple rooms located within the village. All accommodation is based on a full board basis so you don't have to worry about meals. here is also a choice of either eating in one of the large dining halls on site or alternatively choosing table service within your apartment block (for an extra charge). All rooms have modern furnishings and private bathrooms.

Northern Italy is easily accessible from most UK airports using a number of no-frills, scheduled and chartered airlines. Sports Abroad will arrange all of your training and accommodation requirements along with your airport transfers to Lignano and any optional excursions.
